~Light-Emotion~

This lighting combines emotion, aesthetics and Eco materials to be profoundly felt in an emotional sense.

One of the main elements is its form of the structure. The wood frame is inspired by the geodesic domes which consist of 180triangles. According to the survey, I found people showing more of a tendency toward round shapes as their happy feeling and sharp shapes as their sad feeling. Therefore, I choose the geodesic form as the lighting shape to express our emotion.

The soft LED light bulb makes it possible to avoid the cardinal sin of lighting design, which is glare. Using Eco friendly materials such as wood for the frame and low energy LEDs, this lighting is sustainable and benign for not only people but also our environment.

FEAST "Feeling Delicious, Looking Delectable"

This project requested me to design wearable objects or accessories that celebrate the occasion of the feast and the identity of the host or the guests. I decided to choose HANAMI(花見)as my feast. Hanami is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the beauty Cherry blossoms or Ume blossoms whilst eating, drinking and singing. The shape of the necklace is inspired by the MASU(Wooden box cup) which is largely used for drinking Sake.

The white necklace is made out of the paper straws to express the delicate and lightness of the Sakura petal. And the black one is made out of coppers to represent the solidity and heaviness of branches. Therefore, you can swap the necklaces depending on your feeling!

Urban Landscapes

This is a three days project. I had spent two days recording visual information in a city, both in form of drawing and photos. I focused on architectural framework, three-dimensional form and detail.
After doing the research, I begun to create a structural model with limited materials: paper, card, string, tape or wire.

This light was inspired by the flame of window and made out of paper straws which is really Eco-friendly.
Through this project, I realise that you can get any idea wherever you are and it is very important to pay attention your surroundings at all time.
The possibilities for creation are infinite!!!

The transform chair

As to this project, I was asked to design something for a park space. I started to analyze a location and people’s behavior.

I realized London is well known for having high rainfall and you can not sit on benches after it has been raining.

To solve the problem, I came up with an idea to make the flip or swivel chair that you can spin the seat over to the dry side to sit. I also decided to put a cushion on one side seat for your bottom not to get cold, and make an option to transform from chair into stool and vice versa.

With the transform chair, you can enjoy the park no matter the weather is like.

Untitled Collage - sold out

My first step toward fame ;p This collage was bought by my tutor for £50!!
His beard is made from the side of a mountain. It was funny because this was just an experimental piece. I was surprised that he bought it since when I thought of this idea, it was just for fun!
Arigato tutor!

Drawing (Mont Saint-Michel)

I went to Mont Saint-Michel a few years ago. It was an amazing place. The view from the top of the castle was spectacular! It takes your mind off your work and everything.

Think outside of the box!

In this project, I worked in pairs to make something which can express each identity. We were allowed to use only cardboard boxes.

As I started to ask questions about her, I thought she had a stereotyped imaged of people.
I decided to make a crown inspired by the cubism to show her stereotype in her head. I wanted to show her thinking any other way, this concept is "Think outside of the box!"

The small chandelier

I was encouraged to make something for a new school building. I began doing research an existing building and the concept of new building.

I decided to make a lighting which indicates the union of each collage. The shape of light was inspired by the constructed building and the chemical molecules. The light should be put at the reception because it’s the representation of school. (15cm H × 15cm W)

The night lump

In the project, I needed to make something useful for a private space with exploring the use of ready made or found material. I started to investigate the quality of glass-jar and thought of making a light because glass is transparence material.

With an experimental approach, I created the night lump made out of fragment glass fixed by resin. Fragments can diffuse light not to see the light source directly.

The night lump can make your room comfortable where you can sleep well all night;

two examples of how this light will create a good sleeping space,

1) for children that have fear of the dark this is very useful, because not only is this light calming, it does not create shadows which they could find scaring.

2) another example, after a hard days work and much stress some adults find it hard to switch off before they sleep. as soon as they turn off the light the darkness is filled with thoughts of the day. but this light is dim and not to bright which can allow them to relax and slowly unwind before sleeping. and because its not so bright they can fall asleep without switching it off.
